I am sending you warm greetings on International Women’s Day having just returned from three weeks in South Africa. I hope this newsletter finds you healthy and well as we welcome the Spring in the Northern Hemisphere.On this day, I’m taking a specific moment to acknowledge the impact and expertise of womxn and femme creative labor. I honor the ways in which we care for and mother our family and friends - whether we have birth children or not. I am grateful for the power of the feminine and the unique ways that Queer expression has formed this history and month. I acknowledge womxn of all genders as informers of the work here at Artist As First Responder, and I want to reiterate that our philosophy is centered on a Black feminist politic that centers love, generosity and kindness as our creative activism. In rhythm with this gratitude and recognition, I am excited to welcome our new advisory board, some of whom were early adopters, and others who are just joining our efforts! Thank you to each of you for the work of who you are and how you show up for your community. It is a gift to begin 2023 in collaborative work with you in this way.
