Artist As First Responder Supports the Black Freedom Fellowship (BFF) Journey to Ayiti

A group of 10 Oakland Based Black artists and activists are journeying to the shores of Jacmel, Haiti in October in commemoration of Black August. As a movement, BFF aims to provide experiences that are decolonizing the habits of intercultural exchange.

The #ArtistsInAction Coalition alongside the Refund Coalition, the Defund Coalition and a host of Artists & indie Curators organized to demand resources to funnelled toward mental health services and arts/culture. On June 24, 2021 Oakland City Council voted to reallocate $18 million dollars away from the Oakland Police Dept incl. $3.9 million going toward 2 years of arts programming, grants, and cultural hubs!
