Be Seen: The Genius and Gaze of Black Creatives, Opening Reception

  • African American Art & Culture Complex 762 Fulton Street San Francisco, CA, 94115 United States (map)

Be Seen: The Genius and Gaze of Black Creatives is a portrait photography exhibition by Marcella Sanchez, documenting Black Bay Area artists and creative entrepreneurs across public and outdoor spaces.

Through powerful imagery and narrative, Be Seen creates a visual archive that centers Black creatives in nature and art—claiming space, affirming presence, and reflecting each subject’s unique gaze and brilliance.

Join us for the opening reception on May 15, an evening celebrating Black creativity in all its forms, featuring a stunning portrait installation, limited-edition Riso print takeaways, DJs and curated soundscapes, beer, wine, and curated bites, and an artist talk + community gathering.
